Rosè and Jacqueline Cuevas are an inspiring duo who share a common dream – to thrive as entrepreneurs. Despite facing physical limitations and juggling family responsibilities, the husband and wife duo never let their dreams fade away. With determination and community support, they brought their dream to life and created Junction Party Store.
Their mission was simple – to create not just a store but a vital part of the community, reminiscent of cherished neighborhood stores. A place where, for families and individuals alike, people can find what they need and feel welcomed. But what truly makes Junction Party Store stand out is how they connect with their customers.
Junction Party Store is committed to meeting the needs of its customers, especially in Southwest Detroit, with Rosè and Jacqueline always ready to strike up a conversation and offer support in any way they can. They offer a range of products, including beer, wine, food items, and popular items like Topo Chico and the newest addition, Dippin’ Dots. In addition to these fan favorites, the store also provides two specialized services, namely check cashing and money transfers to various countries.
With deep roots in Southwest Detroit, the duo has always been committed to giving back to their community outside of store hours. With over twenty years of experience living in the area, they have participated in various community service projects, including generously supporting St. Hedwig’s Church, located across the street from their store. They have also contributed to the Academy of Americas, committing to furthering education in their community. Additionally, Jacqueline is a proud fellow of the Congress of Communities, where she credits the organization for honing her exceptional leadership skills.
“We have been able to achieve our current status thanks to the pillars of leadership in our community,” Jacqueline Cuevas.
There is another pillar in the Detroit community that has supported the duo along the way: ProsperUs Detroit.
Five years ago, Jacqueline reached out to ProsperUs Detroit and participated in their Entrepreneur Training Program. The insightful experience became a dependable resource, even post-graduation. When the opportunity came up to purchase her store sometime later, Jacqueline knew exactly who to turn to. We provided Jacqueline with invaluable support, nurturing a fruitful partnership ever since.
With a supportive loan from ProsperUs Detroit, the store has expanded its product line, and Rosè and Jacqueline were able to make adjustments to the store. In addition to financial support, ProsperUs Detroit has also provided words of encouragement to Rosè and Jacqueline, especially during trying times. If things get overwhelming, the duo can rely on ProsperUs Detroit.
