Raymond E. Shepherd House is a new construction, 53-unit, affordable housing community recently constructed in Ferndale. Named after a well-known and loved community advocate and Ferndale resident, the Raymond E. Shepherd House is a permanent supportive housing project targeting elders in the LGBTQ+ community who are unhoused or at risk of becoming unhoused. This development promotes inclusion and equality, offering units that are affordable, accessible and sustainable, while also providing supportive service to help ensure the long-term success of the residents.

Full Circle Communities (FCC), out of Chicago, was busy closing several other projects when it was time to close Raymond E. Shepherd House so they reached out to CORE Community Partners to assist their team in getting through the detailed labyrinth of closing. CORE was able to assist FCC’s staff through new processes while ensuring the required deadlines were met. CORE supported the FCC with technical assistance and advisory services.

CORE was also able to help support the Raymond E. Shepherd House by supporting their Affordable Housing Program (AHP) loan from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis. The AHP loan requires the support of a member bank for the application, disbursement, and 15-year compliance. CORE helped FCC raise all of the needed capital to make Raymond E. Shepherd House a reality.
