This project provided for environmental remediation and ground-up construction of four buildings at the corner of N. Grand Traverse St and University Ave in Flint’s Carriage Town neighborhood. The buildings will be mixed-use with ground-floor commercial and community space. There will be 48 residential units, 43 of which will be targeted low-income.
ELGA Credit Union, as a member of the FHLBI, was able to secure a $500,000 AHP grant for the project. In addition, ELGA CU provided a direct grant and discounted financing during the construction period. The credit union has committed to providing an end loan upon occupancy.
The residential units are constructed with beautiful, durable finishes including granite countertops and LVL flooring in the main living areas. Nearly half of the units are reserved for residents earning at or below 30% of the Area Median Income.
